In addition to monthly programs and periodic free workshops, the Guild hosts Annual Events. As indicated, most of these special events are repeated annually. Member volunteers are needed for these events; for more information, contact the Events Chairman. Some of these events are:
Kansas City Woodworking Show:
The Guild participates in this annual trade show with a booth featuring both examples of completed projects crafted by our members and demonstrations of various kinds. The program was held:
January 30–February 1, 2015
Friday 12-6; Saturday 10-6; Sunday 10-4
Overland Park International Trade Center
For several years the Guild has had a booth at the Maker Faire program held at Union Station in Kansas City Missouri. This family-friendly event demonstrates what and how people are inventing, making and creating. It brings together Makers, Crafters, Inventors, Hackers, Scientists, and Artists for a faire full of fun and inspiration. This is your chance to show off your masterpieces or your one-off pieces! Anything that is made by a Guild member is welcome.
This year the Faire was held on June 27-28. KCWG members helped children put together 345 toy trucks which they carried off with them. Faire Sponsors awarded the KCWG Booth a Maker of Merit Blue Ribbon in recognition of the quality of the booth activity.
Open House at our Shop:
Saturday, September 12, 2015, at the Shop.
The annual Open House is designed to acquaint potential members with the shop, its opportunities and benefits. It aims at unaffiliated friends and relatives of current members, patrons of local woodworking-oriented vendors, and young people in area vocational programs.

Annual Fund Raising Auction
Saturday, November 7, 2015, at the Shop.
The Guild holds a fund raising auction each year in November in conjunction with the Kansas City Woodturners. It is open to the public. Manufacturers, retailers, and suppliers to the woodworking industry are asked to donate products for the auction. Donations are received from members and the public.
Holiday Dinner Celebration
Wednesday, December 16, 2015 (Replaces regular meeting)
Woodworkers and their families and friends participate in a catered and contributed holiday meal featuring an auction of select woodworked projects. Mostly it’s the good food and camaraderie that prevail. Members contribute desserts.
Note: The Woodworkers’ Guild utilizes the Sign-up Genius program to keep track of participants in some events, as well as many classes. Use of this program provides an effective way for our volunteer leaders to limit participation to appropriate size, make sure that fees are paid, and to assemble waiting lists where helpful. Where fees are required, Sign-Up Genius utilizes the Guild’s own PayPal account for the collection.
